Columbus-based electro-pop duo Twenty One Pilots have played to a sold-out crowd at the LC and twice packed the Newport, but they’re destined for even bigger things.
In February, they signed with pop-punk label Fueled by Ramen (Fall Out Boy, Gym Class Heroes, Fun.). Orders for their debut album, Vessel, begin Saturday.
“You have to have a little bit of confidence,” said 23-year-old singer Tyler Joseph, who in 2008 gave up a college basketball scholarship to start the band without any formal training in music.
“We started from nothing. I know we’re good enough to be up here.”
The band plays a homecoming show at the LC tomorrow night. Tickets are sold out. (Again.)
