The Columbus Dispatch, "Ohio's Greatest Home Newspaper," has been publishing from Columbus, Ohio, since 1871.
We've been posting on Tumblr since 2010.
She has painted ornaments for the White House Christmas tree and decorations for the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian American Art Museum and has traveled to Japan to teach her craft.
But Phyllis Gibbs is just as happy to turn her paintbrush loose on a rough-and-tumble stretch of Parsons Avenue.
“I’ll paint on just about anything if it stands still long enough,” she said.
City officials say the 65-year-old Gibbs is the creative heart behind the Parsons Avenue flowerpot project, a South Side beautification effort that started during spring 2010 and has since lined a 2-mile corridor with 126 giant hand-painted pots.
