She has painted ornaments for the White House Christmas tree and decorations for the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian American Art Museum and has traveled to Japan to teach her craft.
But Phyllis Gibbs is just as happy to turn her paintbrush loose on a rough-and-tumble stretch of Parsons Avenue.
“I’ll paint on just about anything if it stands still long enough,” she said.
