Matthew Hoffman, the tree fetishist who in November 2010 murdered three people in Knox County, Ohio, and hid their remains in a hollow tree, had made a plea deal in which he requested that that tree not be harmed.
Hoffman, who also kidnapped a 13-year-old girl, made the deal to avoid the death penalty.
